October is coming to an end… but it’s okay! Because I’ve got you with my October 2022 favourites of the month.
October 2022 Favourites: Fashion Faves, Beauty Must Haves, & More I’ve Been Loving This Month
One thing I LOVE doing every single month is being nosey around people’s favourites. I watch the YouTube videos, read the blogs, stalk the story roundups. I love it! So you know I had to hit you with all my favourites that I’ve been loving this month. From fashion to beauty to lifestyle and more, I’ve got it all in today’s post. So let’s get right into my October 2022 favourites!
♡ FASHION
Eloquii
You guys the way Eloquii has an unbelievable grasp on my wallet?! We all know plus size and size-inclusive retailers are hard to find. Let alone, they carry cute and on-trend pieces that also aren’t a million dollars. Once I put in my first online order at Eloquii I was HOOKED! Eloquii is so on trend, often running sales, and makes me feel like I actually have options as a plus-size person. Every single day I fight the urge to order something new from them. This should really tell you how much I love them lol.
H&M Jackets
One thing about fall? It’s JACKET season! You guys probably know me as the queen of outerwear by the point because I’m constantly debuting a new jacket for what feels like every single fall season. And you know where I’m getting them? H&M! I swear by H&M jackets every single year. Not only have all of my H&M jackets held up year after year, I’m actually able to wear them during the not-so-cute times of Canadian weather. AKA when it’s -25 outside and probably snowing. H&M also has a plus size collection that often has the same jackets that are offered in straight sizing which I also think is a bing win.
Knee High + Over The Knee Wide Calf Boots
BOOTS. I’m obsessed! For the longest time, I relegated myself to ankle boots only because so many regular retailers don’t cater to wide calves. That all changed for me this year! I bought my first pair of knee-high boots in black leather and in suede and wore them to NYFW and got LOADS of compliments. Since then, I’ve picked up a pair of knee-high, wide-calf snakeskin boots as well as my first pair of thigh-high boots as well. What I’ve realized now is that I don’t have a lot of short skirts, dresses, or skinny jeans in my closet to wear them with… but that’s a whole other bridge to cross!
♡ BEAUTY
Oil Overtop My Moisturizer
Okay… I saw a TikTok of the correct steps to your skincare routine and it changed my life. NO DRAMATICS! I always thought that moisturizer was your last skincare layer before sunscreen. Like.. for my whole life?? Flash forward to seeing this TikTok and something just clicked in my brain. Duh, oil is heavier than a moisturizer. It seals in your skincare! And it’s been a game changer for my skin. Not only is my face glowy af all day, it actually feels hydrated. Which is especially important living in the Canadian prairies. It gets DRY in the winter! I also now layer my nighttime oils over my moisturizer as well. In the dryer months, I used to wake up with my face basically dry and with no remnants of product. Now? I wake up and can still feel a tiny bit of my oil layer on my face and I feel SO moisturized!
Sisley Hydra Flash
Another hydration product! This was honestly expensive af… but SO worth it to me. I actually used this product for the first time when I got a Sisley facial at the Holt Renfrew popup in Edmonton. I had just come home from New York and Nashville and my skin was not doing its best. My esthetician recommended the Hydra Flash to me and I bought it that day. I have zero regrets! It’s a leave-on mask that is extremely hydrating. I use it once every 4-5 days and will probably up it to every 2-3 days as we get into the colder, harsher months of winter. It smells like a spa mixed with lavender and my skin is also serving PLUMP after every use!
Peter Thomas Roth Hyaluronic Cloud Hydra-Gel Eye Patches
Confession… Kyle Richards from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills influenced me into eye patches in 2021. I remember watching the season she got her nose job and how whenever she was in self-care mode she always had eye patches on! So naturally, I had to find some of my own. THAT is how the Peter Thomas Roth Hyaluronic Cloud Hydra-Gel Eye Patches swiftly landed on my October 2022 favourites.
Now, I don’t struggle with genetic dark circles so brightening was never an issue for me. Additionally, I’m only 26 so ageing around the eye area is also not super high on my radar. Hence, the hyaluronic! If you haven’t figured it out by now, I’m a huge fan of hydration and these eye patches do just that. Every morning I ice roll and stick my eye patches on before I do any skincare of the day. I run through my morning routine with them on right up until I take my morning shower.
♡ HOME
Humidifiers
Okay when I say I NEEDED to include these in my October 2022 favourites! I have one in every single room in my apartment. Not even kidding! I was never super into humidifiers growing up and felt like they were kind of gimmicky. Fast forward to my first apartment, no AC, and a heat wave? I bought a cool mist humidifier in hopes it would keep me sort of cool during the night. Apparently, that was the best purchase I could have made!
I now run my humidifiers every single day. I have a large one for my common space (aka my kitchen & living room) that is 9L. I set it to the maximum mist, target humidity, and let it run until it’s out of water. In my bedroom, I have the Canopy humidifier and I LOVE it. It’s mistless, has an interchangeable filter, and also a fragrance puck. My only gripe is that the highest setting is LOUD and nonconducive to sleep.
Can Shaped Glasses + Glass Straws
I’ve recently been in a mood where I feel like I need to uplevel my life. And that includes my glassware! I ordered these super cute can-shaped glasses and matching glass straws and my life feels like a little luxury every single day. There really is something about having your morning iced coffee out of a fancy glass that just makes it taste better! I also felt like I outgrew my regular, boring IKEA glassware that I bought when I moved into my first apartment. I’ve been on a mission to truly elevate my life and having cute glassware has definitely put me further on that path!
Our Place Baking Tray + Baking Mat
I kid you not when I say I want to get rid of every cooking item I own and replace them with Our Place products. The Always Pan? Game changer. The Perfect Pot? I’ve had my eye on it 5ever. The Baking Set? OBSESSED. Specifically, with the fact, it comes with a baking mat! Which I never knew I needed in my life until I actually got one. It makes cooking and baking SO much easier! Not only is the “food sticking to your pan” issue mitigated, but a baking mat is also 10x easier to clean than a whole baking tray itself. Bonus points that it all matches together and keeps my cookware looking CUTE!
♡ HEALTH & WELLNESS
Cervical Traction Device
My tech neck was out of control. Seriously. I recently went in for a massage and my massage therapist was like “you need to get that looked at immediately”. So I did some digging and discovered tech neck. TLDR: we get it from constantly looking at our phones! I bought this device after looking into options for remedying my tech neck and it’s AMAZING. I lay on it for 10 minutes every single day and I’ve already noticed such a difference in the size of my tech neck bump. Additionally, it relieves a LOT of tension that I hold in my neck from stress, TMJ, and more.
Seed Synbiotic (Pro + Prebiotic)
Whenever anyone asks me for a probiotic recommendation it’s ALWAYS Seed. Always. And that is why I knew I needed to include this in my October 2022 favourites (and probably beyond lol). I got super into gut health in November 2021 when I was battling a bunch of health issues at once. Flash forward to today and I still take my Seed synbiotics every single day. They make me feel less bloated, help me stay regular, and help contribute to a healthy microbiome. I love that you don’t need to refrigerate them AND that they come in a monthly subscription. My starter pack also came with two little glass containers (one for home, one for travel) so the refills come in a lot less packaging every single month. A win for excessive waste AND for my gut health!
Athletic Greens Vitamin D3 + K Dropper
Something you may not know (especially if you’re from somewhere sunny) is that most of Canada suffers from Vitamin D deficiency. There just isn’t enough year-round sunlight! Top that off with being genetically vitamin D deficient and you’ve got me. This Athletic Green Vitamin D3 + K dropper has quickly made its way into my everyday routine. I love that it’s a titrate and I just drop it onto the underside of my tongue and call it a day. It makes it so much easier to drop and go in the mornings instead of trying to remember to line up all my pills. As for Vitamin K… I’m not 100% sure what it does. But I do know that I’m also getting it in my daily drops!
♡ BOOKS
Thursday Is The New Friday
And I strongly agree! I’ve always been the type of person who wasn’t 100% sold on the regular 9-5 vibes (duh lol) and this book is explaining why. While I obvi am my own boss and can make my own hours, what drew me to this book was the idea of completing all my work in a shorter period of time and reclaiming my personal time. When you’re launching a business or going out on your own for the first time… you’re a workaholic. As that stabilizes, you find more flexibility. One of my goals for 2023 is to do just that. Find more flexibility! I’m not done this book yet but it’s been really insightful thus far.
One Of Us Is Next
The sequel to the booktok sensation “One Of Us Is Lying” and I loved it. Full confession, I started reading this book MONTHS ago and got like 30 pages in. I recently picked it up again and implemented reading into my night routine and devoured it in 5 days. I love a good fiction book that is multi-perspective and the twists and turns it was taking had me hooked. I recently found out that One Of Us Is Lying got turned into a TV show so you KNOW I’ll be checking that out as well!
Malibu Rising
I am mere pages into this book and I have mixed feelings. This book is also a viral booktok favourite so I bought it to see what the hype was about. In the first chapter I wasn’t fully convinced. While I love multi-perspectives, I hate when there are too many character switches early on without much development. I feel like I’m meeting the whole cast but it’s like speed dating. BUT… the second chapter turned me and now I want to continue reading it! I’ll keep you posted on Instagram on how it plays out for me.
♡ BUSINESS & PODCASTS
Emma Grede
Obsessed is an understatement! Emma Grede is obvi my top favourite of the month for so many reasons. She’s the co-founder of Good American, SKIMS, and Safely, she’s a Black woman absolutely crushing it, and she’s very real. I’ll admit that I did kind of know who she was but it wasn’t until The Kardashians Season 1 that I decided to look into her more. I’m so glad I did! I’ve listened to her podcast interviews on how she got started, followed her on Instagram, and also have found myself with 8 pairs of Good American jeans! Emma Grede is definitely going to be a person that I continue to look up to along my influencer and business journey.
Marianna Hewitt Podcast
Similar to Emma Grede (who I listened to on the Marianna Hewitt podcast), Marianna Hewitt is also a person I followed but wasn’t super involved with. Which recently changed when I listened to her podcast! Some of my issues with podcasts are that so many shows just become question-and-answer types and I can’t take listening to the same guest say the same thing on multiple different podcasts. I found that Marianna asks a lot of unexpected questions that I rarely heard on other shows. I feel like this is because she’s so well-rounded as an influencer and also a businesswoman. I’m looking forward to listening to more!
Anything Jim Louderback Does…
Okay so TLDR… Jim Louderback is the former VP of Vidcon and also the smartest person ever. Seriously. There is a lot of fluff in the creator economy, especially when it comes to influencers. There are so many bogus coaches, experts, leaders etc. that really are just scammers. Jim Louderback is none of those things.
I keep my personal inbox pretty sacred when it comes to emails and newsletters and Jim’s weekly creator news update is one that I devour every single Monday. He does such an amazing job at collecting relevant and topical pieces on the influencer industry. Not only that, he provides incredible insight based on his own knowledge and experiences and it hits every single time. Since he left Vidcon, I’ve even followed his weekly newsletter all the way to LinkedIN. Which was literally collecting virtual dust on my phone until then. Needless to say, Jim Louderback is a FAVE fave of the month and probably for the rest of my life.
And just like that… it’s over!
I hope you enjoyed my very own roundup of October 2022 favourites and that you try some of them out for yourself.
Can’t wait to see you next week!
