Hi bestie! Are you feeling stuck? Frustrated? Wanting to push the reset button on your life? Today’s blog is for you!
As we move into the final months of the year I always tend to long for more organization, less stress, and more happiness and I’m sure (if you’re reading this blog) you’re feeling the same way too. I’ve crafted 8 *specific* ways to push the reset button every month to help you bring peace to your environment, happiness to your life, and goals to the table.
So let’s get down to it. Here are 8 ways to push the reset button on your life every single month:
8 Ways To Push The Reset Button On Your Life Every Single Month
1. Reset The Room
One thing about me, I can’t really get into the reset mood if my physical space is stressing me out. You know what they say… clean space = clean headspace! I like to do this step *first* to make sure that I’m starting with a blank enough slate that will free up my mental capacity to take on the tasks of a reset.
My favourite way to reset the room is throwing on a YouTube video and by implementing the 5 minute rule I learned from my therapist. Set a timer for 5 minutes and put your head down into the task. After the 5 minutes is up ask yourself “can I do this for more than 5 minutes or was the worst thing ever and I need to stop?”. Most of the time, we can continue what we’re doing. Starting is the hardest part but the 5 minute rule makes it a LOT easier!
2. Connect With Your Emotions
Once my space is clean I find it a lot easier to tap into my emotions. I like to take this time to do a morning pages-esque situation! If you’re unfamiliar with morning pages here is the TLDR: sit down with a notebook and write out every thought that comes to your head until you’ve filled 3 sheets of paper.
I love to adapt this during my monthly reset and write down all the feelings I’m currently feeling for 3 pages and then how I *want* to feel for 3 pages. After that, I compare notes.
Grab your journal (or flip your notebook page) and start taking emotional inventory. What’s stopping you from feeling or doing the things you want? What obstacles are you currently facing? What do you think you need to overcome them? Write it all down. Oftentimes, I find my answers in the proccess.
3. Bring Peace To Your Environment
I know we just did a mini reset but this one is for all the marbles (or whatever the saying is). Like I said earlier, clean space = clean headspace and as a girl with ADHD I hate that it’s true. BUT because it is, I take the time to truly reset my space.
While hiring a cleaning service is amaze for my apartment and my mental health it’s still up to me to keep my place tidy in between.
Take this time to truly do resetting tasks like changing your bedding, washing your towels, cleaning out the fridge, etc.
4. Revisit & Implement Your Happy 100
If you’ve been following me on social for a hot minute you’d know I’m obsessed with Dream 10 Life and Happy 100 and I love to revisit every single month. If you’re unfamiliar, Happy 100 is simply a list of 100 things that make you happy. These can be small things, big things, physical things, emotional things – whatever makes you happy!
I love to revisit this list every single month not only because it makes me happy to read through but also to recognize what small or large changes I can implement this month that make me happy.
For example, “matching sets” is on my Happy 100 list. It’s so easy to throw on a cute set from my closet and feel that instant boost of happiness!
5. Create A Solid Routine
Routines are my happy place. I’ve talked about the importance of routine on basically every single social media platform I have. Which means y’all should know I’m serious about mine! My miracle morning routine has stayed the same for the past 4 years and it really sets me up to have a solid day every single day. That being said, the next step in pushing the reset button on your life is creating solid routines.
Take time to create great habits and systems to help you start and finish your day strong. Having these routines helps to reduce friction, increase productivity, and free up time for things you love.
Make sure you’re creating routines that are effective, practical, and attainable to make sure you’re actually doing them each day. And if you’re struggling to create habits or unsure where to start, I cannot recommend this book enough on how to implement habits in your life.
6. Make Goals
One of my earlier blog posts How To Set (And Achieve) Your Goals details my exact process of setting and achieving goals. The biggest takeaways are be realistic, refine your life, break it down, and keep up with accountability. And because we’re keeping up with accountability, the next step is to make goals for the month.
Take this time to revisit the goals you set for yourself at the beginning of the year. How is the progress on your goals? What have you achieved? What else do you have to do? Get in touch with it! After that, implement the “break it down” step and figure out your mini goals for the month.
I find that having goals to work towards every single month gives my month a clear purpose and allows me to make way more progress in my goal journey than not having any at all.
7. Revisit Your Financial Health
Ugh, finances.
Honestly, I really shouldn’t say that and I def need to sort out my personal relationship with money but… take the time to revisit your financial health! I always dread going through my finances every single month but it’s truly so important and such a vital step in pushing the reset button every single month.
Use this time in your reset journey to take an inventory of your finances. Plug numbers into your expense tracker (I use this one for Notion), see where you’re spending, see where you’re saving, and make a financial plan for the month. Financial accountability and actually going through my purchases was an eye-opening turning point for my that really got me more into visiting my financial health every single month. So, even though it’s a pain… get it done!
8. Make Time For Self Care
Last, but certainly not least, on our reset journey is self care!
You’ve put in the hard work, you’ve made the goals, you’ve dealt with your finance monster (just me?) – now it’s time to indulge. I love to plan out all of my self care items like blowouts, nail appointments, and massages for the first week of the month. Not only as a reward to myself but as a true IRL manifestation of my reset. I am a firm believer that when you look good you feel good and starting off the month at an all-time high can be really motivating to continue to work towards your goals and stay on track.
