Happy NEW YEAR you guys! It’s been (basically) an entire year since we last caught up on the blog… sorry about that. So to make it up to y’all… I thought I would come in HOT with a new post that I know you’re going to LOVE. And that’s 10 life-changing questions to ask yourself for the best year ever!
Before we dive in I wanted to say a few lil things. I know I’ve been MIA from the blog but I’ve learned a LOT of great organizational tools, have hired onto my team, and have had another trip around the sun as a self-employed chick to learn how the heck to run all my social media platforms. That being said, expect to hang out with me on the blog every single sunday! Sunday’s are the days where I love to relax and catch up on things I might have missed during the week and I hope my little corner of the internet makes it into your routine as well. So with that being said… let’s get into this blog!
So.. WTF Is Dream 10 Life?
Okay, besties… Dream 10 Life is THE BEST. It’s a set of 10 questions that I use every single year to help guide me when it comes to manifesting my dream life. If you’ve been keeping up with me on any other social media, you know I’m a BIG fan of manifestation and the power of positive thought. I’m 99.99% sure that manifestation had a huge hand in helping me create the life that I am living now and I wanted to share Dream 10 with you guys so you could live your best life too!
So here’s the sitch! I used to be the girl who would know that doing a vision board was great at the end of the year and pop on Pinterest and grab some inspo pics and glue them to a poster board and be like “ah perf!” and move. This should come as no surprise but… none of that stuff ever came true! Maybe it’s because it was unrealistic or maybe it was because it was something that the world & society was telling me I needed to have. Moral of the story… none of it felt like ME! And that’s where Dream 10 has really helped me. These 10 sets of questions are the FIRST thing I do when mapping out what goals I want to achieve in the year to come because it helps me really tap into what I want, who I am currently, and who I want to become. Everyone can put a “dream car” on their vision board, right? But what is the car? Is it a car YOU love? Or is it a card your boyfriend thinks is cool & you agree? If it’s the later… why is it on YOUR vision board? No ma’am! You have to think about what YOU want.
The Perfect Setup
So now you’re probably like “ok Karly that’s cool & I’m ready to answer the questions” but wait just a min, k? Because I need to share with you one of the most important parts of this exercise. And that’s all in how you write it down! If you’re a spiritual person you’re totally familiar with the idea of “act as if”. Essentially, the idea is to act like you already have or are about to receive every single good thing you’re manifesting in your life. It’s very “dress for the job you want” type energy. And that’s exactly how I want you to answer these questions! Instead of answering these in the present tense, I want you to answer these as if you’re 1 year from now answering the questions. If it’s asking you about your house, what does the house look like? Your job? Your friends? Your partner? Write it down as if you were writing a recap on your dream life at the end of the 1-year mark. I know this is a BIT confusing but I promise you it makes all the difference! Now that we’re familiar… let’s dive into the questions.
1. Who is the dream version of you? What qualities do you possess?
I love this question! This is really the only question I would say that you can write down as a “future tense” type situation. Something that also helps me SO much is writing it out paragraph styles vs bullet points because it helps me get so much more attached to the vision of my highest self rather than being a checklist of personality traits. When you’re answering this question really tap into the BEST version of yourself that you see in your head.
2. Where do you live? What is your home like? Where do you hang out?
Are you manifesting a move? Switching apartments? Going bi-coastal? Whatever it is… write about it and be specific. What area do you want to live in? How many bedrooms? Carpet or hardwood? Etc etc etc. The more detailed you get in these answers the easier it will be to create not only better visualizations & manifestations, you’ll also be able to identify these things easier IRL! Imagine going to an open house and the house has every single thing checked off the list right down to the colour of the grout? It’s giving MAGIC! I suggest answering these questions BEFORE you get on pinterest to create your vision board. The last thing you want to do is adopt someone else’s vision and try to force it to be your own.
3. Who do you love? What do your family + social lives look like? Who are your friends?
This is the section where I’ve been manifesting a boyfriend for the past like 3 years and it has not come through for me yet lol. BUT… it has been helping me get more clear on the partner I want, how I want them to treat me, and so much more. So do the same! You don’t need to be ultra-specific in this question about who your EXACT friends are, their names, their zodiac, their favourite colour, etc. You just need a general vibe here. I’m sure it comes as no surprise but manifesting a specific person (as in… trying to manifest Zendaya as your bff) really just doesn’t work otherwise we’d ALL be bff’s with Zendaya, right? Instead, focus on traits, qualities, how they show up for you as a friend, etc.
4. What do you do for a living? What do your finances look like?
This is my FAVOURITE question and I am SO specific with it. I detail every single possible outcome of my career in the next 12 months, the amount of money I want to make, the amount of money I want to invest, EVERYTHING. For me, this is my most important question but for you it could be totally different! The most important thing here is specifics. How much money are you making? What is your job? Are you saving? How much? The list goes on!
5. What does your health and body look like? What are you doing to honour yourself?
Not gonna lie… this one is hard for me always. You all know I am a BIG proponent for body positivity, confidence, and living in your authentic body. But I’m also very here for being healthy & I don’t think the two conflict with each other. I’m really of the thinking that health looks different on everyone and I’m not the one to tell you what to do with your own body. For me, this is where I write down HEALTH related (not diet-related) goals I want to work towards. Drinking enough water, making health meals, getting in movement every single day. This looks different for all of us so write it down accordingly!
6. What do you do to bring fun & joy into your life?
My job is my whole personality and I’m working on that! That means that rarely am I doing “fun” things outside of the time that I’m working. I love this question specifically because it truly makes me THINK about what is fun outside of my job. The answer for me is reality tv, cocktails with friends, moving my body, cooking, etc. and this question helps me to identify these things that I need to work on more in the new year.
7. Where do you vacation? What adventures do you go on?
My travel girls and bi-coastal baddies… this is for YOU! I personally don’t have a HUGE travel bug so this question mostly consists of manifesting a spa retreat in Arizona but if you’re the type who wants to plan out elaborate vacations and stay in luxury resorts all over the world… this question is for you! I love that it also asks what adventures you go on so that, when you’re answering, you can really identify what experience you want out of each place that you list. We love specifics!
8. What goals are you working towards? What have you accomplished?
This is a half-present half future question for me! I love to take the first half of the question and reflect on all the things I’ve accomplished in the past year. I’m the type of person who will celebrate a win for a bit and then move on to the next thing (don’t worry… my therapist has already kicked my ass about this) so I love taking the time to truly reflect and revel in my accomplishments. I write down all the things I’m proud of for the year in past/present tense. When it comes to up next, I write it in the future tense!
9. What are you doing to spread love and give back to the community?
I love this question SO much because a lot of the time we’re very ego-centric. It’s no surprise that the entire social economy is ego-centric with the continuous rise of social media but I love this question because it really forces you to get back to the idea of the “many” vs just you. Charity, community service, etc. are things that are HUGE on my heart and in my life and I really enjoy giving back to the community that raised me. Here I detail the initiatives I’d like to donate to, the organizations I can get involved in, etc.
10. What beautiful things surround you? What fills your heart with gratitude?
Finally… end it off with some SELF LOVE baby! Y’all know I am such an advocate for self-love, self-recognition, gratitude, positivity, etc. I love this question specifically because it helps me to continue on the mindset that not everything has to be a BIG win. I shouldn’t only be celebrating massive contracts or social growth, I should also be celebrating strong bonds with my friends, hitting my savings goals, paying off my credit cards, etc. Taking the time to enjoy the little pockets of joy every single day makes your life 10x better overall, ok?
And just like that… Dream 10 Life baby! Once I’ve completed my Dream 10 I love to hop onto pinterest and find images that align with the answers to the questions. This helps me get ultra-specific and intentional when it comes to what I’m putting on my vision board and what I’m manifesting in the future! I know this can all sound woo-woo and crazy but believe me when I say that having a clear vision for your best life is NEVER a bad thing.
Before you go… I made you a digital Dream 10 Life that you can download and fill out on your computer! Make sure to check it out & I’ll see you next sunday ♡
xo, your girl karly
